TX: Eagle Pass has seen an increase in people crossing the Rio
Eagle Pass in Maverick County is typically a spot officials see smuggling and drug trafficking-- Over the last week, the area saw an increase in people crossing the Rio into the U.S. In 3 days it saw more than 900 people walk in to self-surrender to agents to be processed. Hundreds are being released daily with an NTA (notice to appear).
TX: "We are under siege..." Kinney Co. Sheriff talks deputizing people to help
Kinney Co. is a border county in Texas. Sheriff Brad Coe says, "We are under siege." He tells me they have deputized 3 people who still have peace officer status. He says they are allowed up to 10 per the courts right now. He says the extra people are to help keep the community safe as they are seeing an uptick in illegal immigration, activity and trespassing. He says while the governor's measures are helping a little, but not enough.

AZ: Vans arrive, we go to a major crossing point in Yuma and stumble across dumped documents
ARIZONA: Groups of adult men being picked up by Customs and Border Protection to be processed. We walk to an area along the border wall with the Yuma County Sheriff to a major crossing point. We find several ripped, torn and discarded documents. Migrants have told me that they dump documents because they fear that having documentation of any kind could hurt them more than help them.

Regional Center for Border Health: Alex Bejarano Community Liaison & Public Relations Director talks to me about what happens with migrants in Yuma that cannot afford to buy a plane/bus ticket. He also explains their partnership with border patrol and how they are funded. He says they are actively seeking reimbursement from FEMA.
